I still use the timer on my stove, the app OurGroceries, and set reminders on my iPhone manually.

I use it in my kitchen and like setting timers and alarms without touching the device.  I also use it to play music, check the weather, set reminders, add items to my shopping list, listen to books and ask general questions.  It usually works well with IFTTT to automatically add shopping list and to-do items to my iOS Reminders.
