That is my plan. I have removed the Music app from my dock on my iPads and put the audible app there.
I see the writing on the wall, we are being moved from owning material to streaming.
So what if you don't own streaming material. That doesn't stop you from downloading it to your iPhone or iPad. One of the first things I did with Apple Music was download an album to my iPhone.
I hate that. I like having my books, movies and tv shows on my RAID drives so I can get to them when I want.
Well then buy them. None of your sources for these items has closed.
With streaming, if the power is out or my internet down I'm screwed.
How are you powering that RAID drive now? (jk)
Plus, iTunes does not have anything you "own" in their Cloud for you to download IF they have stopped selling it in iTunes. (That's in the small print)
One more reason to have iTunes Match, which I will continue to use. I could still watch a movie on my iPad via Netflix if the power was out, unless it also knocked out the area cell towers.
On iPads or other iDevices you are especially controlled since the iDevices don't hold all that much. I always buy the largest iDevice that is available but it's still not going to hold as many tv shows as you might want.
How many TV shows do you really need it to hold? I've found a wifi hard drive to be a pretty good storage add-on.
So I'm going to find a way to change aax files to a format I can have some control over,
Great. I know Audible doesn't really like you getting rid of their copy protection, but you need control. Have you done the same thing with Kindle books?

IBooks will not import audible files. We are forced to either stream on the audible website or download to iDevices. We have to use that audible app which I thought was so bad. Perhaps they have improved it.
I'm very bummed. The iBook prices are terrible high. I have a platinum account with audible and have for ten or more years. I never pay more than ten dollars a book. The first book I looked at in iBooks was $29.95!
