Speech recognition is much better today than last year. That aside 


He may be able to use Siri but Siri for me can cause frustration. That's the opposite of what we want for him. 

With just an iPhone I can on a newer one zoom the screen and use an app "home dial" to create photos of his family so he can tap and call. The problem is it puts up another dialog confirming his intent to call. This isn't acceptable. Maybe I'll look at paid solutions. 

The other option is just a ho,e option mad that's to forward stuff to iPad mini with larger screen. Money is a factor but I have a mini to donate and maybe my iPhone 6s but dang ,y iPhone 6s is overkill lol a $99 iPhone 5s prolly 

I dunno

If a voice-recognition system can't accommodate variations in speech, it's a poorly designed system.
