I was told however that some deodorants react with 100% DEET so I'm careful in that area when using 100% DEET. Which I rarely use full strength.

Yes DEET is a must. Many creams sold as repellents contain it. Look on the label, if it doesn't contain DEET look for one that does.

Both were in constant use. But I think thru just used OFF brand. I personally take 100% DEET and mix it in Skin So Soft lotion. For some reason Skin So Soft repels mosquitos but I like the added protection of DEET.
