Because of over 20 years of Parkinsons (,with shaking and general lack of motor control) she cannt use a iPhone (not a 6+ nor can she use a iPad mini. So she is starting to learn and use the 10" ish iPad.

The Issues I encountered are:

1) Issue #1 Uber
Uber is unavailable to her since it is only for phones. This is unfortunate because even though several of us help her by driving sometimes she needs a ride and Uber only works on a phone. Any ideas?

2) Issue #2 Text Messages to Android
iMessage will text message to her relatives and grandchildren and children who use iPhones. Great.

But I need an easy texting client she can use to text message to the Android users in the family. WhatsApp has been suggested but I am curious what all the options are, and favorite options.

A little background.
She is getting bored as her body gets slower (Parkinsons and 3 failed stents for her heart) and the iPad unlike her Windows machine can be used from the same chair she watches TV from and can also be used from her bed or in kitchen or living room which ends her boredom. She has a "dumb" phone that has large keys she can operated, it is an older model but if it breaks, I can go to eBay and replace it. She used to love to take pictures but all modern cameras got too hard to operate the iPad should be a big step towards her taking more pictures and taking pictures of her voluminous volumes of family pictures she treasures.

Phase 1 of Project
I set her iCloud account and installed and prepped her iPad with:
a) a case that would be hard to break
b) a "prop and go" to hold her unit in position
c) an iPad ready printer to replace her older printer.
d) I installed and setup the apps she is likely to use
Kindle to read books she also has on her paper white
    Solitaire to practice touch with
    Gmail
    Facebook
LINE chat to text and video and audio chat with kids in Tokyo
SKYPE as backup video and text chat for kids in Tokyo
Pandora with a station programmed to all her favorite music
    Netflix
    Banking App
    Fandango
Dropbox and Google Drive so she can manage her photos in Nix Wifi frames
    Amazon
    Yelp

Phase 2 will be to buy her an iPad Pro once I can budget it within the framework of all the other financial help  I give her.
