My guess would be that any such loss of function would be related to the relatively rapid change in air pressure from surface to 8-10,000 foot altitude cabin pressure.

I wouldn't expect an actual physical connection to fail without recovery once the pressure settles down.  Hmmm.  I wonder if the issue is systemic or occasional?  I'll have to do a little more research.  Not that it's a big deal for me since I'm retired.  But inquiring minds want to know!  :-/
