Yes, that's threading but the messages are not all joined together in one email. They are all individual emails I can answer separately and delete separately without the whole thread deleting all at once.

I seem to have no difficulty deleting them one at a time, by either of 2 methods.
First method: if the little thread marker (circled) is closed, swipe the message to the left and tap the trash can.
Or: if the thread marker is *open*, press the <Delete> key or tap the Trash icon in the menubar.
