My grandparents separately came to me and asked me to order an iPad for the other one for their anniversary. We only ordered one, and they gave it to each other. It was kind of neat!
Of course, only my grandfather actually uses it. That's why I made sure that they only ordered one, to start. It was a good thought on Granddaddy's part, but my grandmother is just nowhere near technologically proficient enough to use an iPad. She can use her Kindle, though, if someone pulls up the book for her! I love that my grandparents have two Kindles and an iPad. My grandfather loves gadgets so much! He had a learning curve getting used to the iPad touch screen, due to shaky and slightly numb hands from a stroke, but using a stylus, he does pretty well, and really enjoys it. He's 79.5 years old.

A coworker and her husband bought one together and she has not used it much since then, but it is still "theirs". That translates "to it is mine because we can't afford to buy or can't justify buying another one for you."
