The technology involved in the iPad is expensive.

You've only got to look to see that there is no cheaper equivalent available for purchase.

And any of the cheap so-called iPad killers are rubbish!

It has been update to latest software ios. Once this is done i want to be able delete everything from the ipad 2 to possibly sell or pass on to some family. Do i just restore it to its original setting? Any help appreciated, regards Chris (Australia)

Re: [iPad] Off topic ramble

Being a dog lover since I was a small kid, I feel your pain, Kris.  It's very hard for awhile but hopefully soon you'll be able to remember the good times without the pain. For me, a few days of pain and crying and then I'm off to the shelter to find another friend.  If you believe in the Rainbow Bridge, your best buddy is now running and playing with others that have gone before.

Re: [iPad] OT: iPod Touch

I think in the beginning only Geeks would most likely try to find other ways to get phone calls via the Internet.  The rest would use a cellphone because it's easy.  I don't really know how Internet calls to POTS line works.  For me,it just does.  I can use Skype to make phone calls or TextFree or get a Google voice number right now.

Maybe, but it looks as tho they'll all cost an arm and a leg.  The internet can't handle all telephone traffic, can it?  There'd still have to be a hand-off to wire, no?  Somehow, ATT and Verizon will stay in charge, plugged into your credit card.

Telephones are necessary nuisances - and big money drains.  This is something Steve Jobs could have worked on - getting rid of  separate phones - making telecom just another app.  We're moving in that direction, but phoning is such a money maker that it looks as tho it'll be around for a very long time.  Oh, well, if that's the worst bump in our life's road ....
