Plasticine Models Plasticine is a type of modeling clay. It is used in the creation of clay animation to make characters. It is made out of calcium salts, aliphatic acids, an petroleum jelly. The consistency is a putty substance. | Plasticine Models by Karen Caldicott Colonel Gaddifi has been captured - in Plasticine - by Leicester-born sculptor Karen Caldicott, who now lives in New York. Her Gaddifi bust cheekily features cuts and bruises - perhaps a glimpse at the Libyan leader's imminent future. Karen has also made eight inch-high sculptures of Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Hillary Clinton... | ...and Apple boss Steve Jobs. Karen explains: "This Plasticine is the kind that is used in stop-motion/Claymation animation. The fact that it never really hardens makes it the perfect material to continually make adjustments, which art directors often ask me to do." | "Mostly these are commissions from magazines and newspapers. If I decide to make a head otherwise it's because I can really have fun with a certain subject, she says". Pictured: her sculpture of Michael Jackson | As well as sculpting well-known faces, Karen accepts commissions with prices starting at $1000. She displays her works in galleries and also has plans to animate her heads for a short film. Pictured: Mick Jagger | "I do not have a favourite sculpture as I become very fond of them all," she says. "I'm surrounded by them at home, they keep me company." | She first sketches her subject before painstakingly building up the shoulders and head by adding small bits of Plasticine. Once she is happy with the features the bust is then painted in acrylic. | Various Plasticine sculptures | Hillary Clinton - with torn jacket | More Fun On Group Blog

Macbook List Policy last updated 1 Jan 2011 This message is sent to all new members, and automatically sent to current members as a monthly reminder. ********************************************************* Hello, Welcome to the macbook group at Yahoo Groups. Please take a moment to review this message. Better yet, please keep this message in a safe place, so you'll always be able to reference it. To learn more about the macbook group, please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macbook To start sending messages to members of this group, simply send email to macbook@yahoogroups.com Basic guidelines: 1. This is a group of fellow users. This is not Apple. We do our best to share experiences and help others. Ask, participate, share, comment, gossip, enjoy, but leave the soapbox and sensationalism at home. 2. No spam. No advertising unless approved by the moderator. No discussion of cracks or pirating which could endanger the list. 3. No personal attacks. Offenders will be banned without warning. 4. Trim your quotes! This includes leftover Yahoo footers and signatures. Members who continually quote 60 lines, and only enter 2 of their own, may find themselves permanently moderated (or unable to post at all). 5. Please limit your signatures to 5 lines maximum, and do not post from any location which inserts legal disclaimer footers. If you cannot control this feature (by an employer, for example), please use the web site to post. Remember, this is a fully public group. Personal info in signatures, like email address and phone number, are probably best kept private. When in doubt, post without. 6. The official language of this list is English. We only make this declaration to keep things simple and prevent abuse. In order to foil spam bots, all new members are automatically moderated. This may cause your first post to be delayed in reaching the list, but rest assured that it is worth the effort. Yahoo doesn't offer any other way to control spam, and their filtering is a joke, so this is all we have. If you have an older house, particularly with plaster and "chicken wire" for wall support, it can severely affect your WiFi. You're just gonna have to get a new house! But really, you can get an extended antenna for your router, or just try moving it to another spot in your house by using a WiFi radio extender. If you happen to have a huge house, get a few :) Dina

- ipd - The trouble is that it depends a lot on your house. Mine is english, and quite old, thick walls, even within, and floor to ceiling book in nearly every room. I've already tried a wireless router, to no avail, but will try again, perhaps with an additional secondary router to pass on the signals. An important matter this, as I'll want wifi for the eventual ipad! But it really depends on all sorts of factors -- so irritating to get it right. Lucky folk, with more accommodating houses! regards from edella -----------------------------------------------
