I agree wholeheartedly, David. KISS (Kerp It Simple Stupid) was one reason why I loved Apple products right from the beginning.
A good example of piling on features to an app is iTunes. Feature after feature has been pulled into iTunes for Mac, then this last iTunes app update Apple removes features and there's complaining from the users about it. I say, KISS from the beginning and don't change a thing.
Another good example is the iPad and iPhone. Very simple to use when they first came out. Great for seniors because they were so simple to use. Try teaching a senior that has never used an iPad or iPhone how to use one these days and it's much harder than in the beginning. I'm trying to teach my 80 yr old Dad how to use his first smartphone, an iPhone 5. What a chore. If it was the original or 2nd iPhone model it would be much less complicated.

Good for you.
But I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world who wish Apple would return to a keep-it-simple attitude toward building user interfaces. Instead, they just continue to pile on feature after feature.
