Here is what I do every month to save my pictures on my iphones:
 
On my Windows computer - I plug my iphones/ipads into my computer and it will come up as an external drive.  Double click on it and keep clicking until you come to the DCIM folder.  Click on it and select "copy" and then "paste" it to a folder on your computer or external hard drive.
 
This will save all of your pictures and videos to your computer.

Does anyone have any ideas I can try ? I have reloaded diff versions of Itunes and nothing has helped.

Or is there a company that can do the work for me ? (and not cost a fortune)
