I have a Cricket plan that includes unlimited texting. I have a few non-Apple friends that I text regularly.
If I were to use another app for texting, it would be either Facebook Messenger or Whatsapp.
No you send to non Apple people. They will appear in green and are not free. Apple people are in blue and are free.
