Interesting. You can finance your phone through Apple for less than the amount the subsidy would cost you. The cell companies profited off that subsidy. No subsidy. No profit. More money in your pocket.

For me, the desire to upgrade frequently has decreased - and I'm talking about the iPhone now - diminished when the cell companies stopped subsidizing the price of the phone.
