Apple does have a superior phone.  That's where the profit lies and Cook makes sure something comes along in the area.  Constantly.  Not much new actually.  6,7, are almost the same.  Aren't iPad sales off?  My wife and I use Apple.  We tried Samsung.  iPhone is far, far superior.  Windows personal machines are still junk.  We actually use the iPhone as a phone.  iPads are mostly a toy/reader/personal use.  iMac and Mac Book Pro for business.


Amazon has the Echo.  Last December when I wanted one I had to wait six weeks.  We have a tap as well and ordered the new Echo Show.  When Apple makes a unit (they will) and is provides equal performance with similar or better sound, not always using cable internet connection I will look at it.

Amazon advantage in the Echo area.  Millions of Prime members of Amazon and their online shopping network plus music that will play using any kind of internet capable machine.  Prime membership is more than paid for by free shipping.

There was a time when I was a Automatic buyer.  But Apple is a bit behind the Echo.  Way behind.  Apple doesn't even have a device.  They will price the ""Pod" high, and Siri has a lot to learn.  Not saying I won't buy one.  But Apple has to prove it to me.  All I see out of Apple is Cook's greed as a bean counter.  Without the iPhone "Cook didn't do it" Apple would be hurting.  Will the iPhone keep them on top?  MS greed with their Windows OP system latest and greatest didn't help them.  Plus.  Buy a Amazon Echo and the music is tossed in (2million Plus tracks) for a Prime membership.


So we shall see.  I do know one doesn't need a new iPhone each year.
