I just saw iMazing, an app to backup iPhone( ipad ipod touch), transfer photos, music without using iTumes. You can use it on Mac (10.8 and higher) and PC (windows7 and higher). It is trialware. It is limited with somethings. Backup is fully functional.
When you want something without using iTunes you can try it.
This is no commercial. I just want to let you know what i just found. When you get problems with iTunes on a PC then this can be a good alternative
