Tony, what year is your car? My Mini Cooper is a 2013. The iPhone SE sees the Mini but won't connect.

I have Sync in my car and my iPhone 8 Plus worked fine including receiving texts until the 12.0 update. It still connects to receive & send phone calls but I cannot receive texts. Even now with the 12.0.1 update I still cannot receive texts. Any ideas?
