Why are you sorry we bought my wife an HP laptop? I've had one with no
problems for going on three years now, my daughter had one for over 4
years that we just replaced because it's capacity and screen were too
small for what she needed for college, my son's had one for 2 years now.

None of them have ever had any of the problems you just cited. None of
them have had any problems at all. My laptop came with Vista on it and
when I upgraded to Win7, the upgrade went seamlessly and quickly.

How many HP laptops have you owned over the past 3 years? On what do
you base your statements? Students who come to you for computer
classes? They're not the most reliable population upon which to base
your conclusions, since they are coming to you to show them how to use
computers. They have already most likely caused damage themselves to
how their computers operate, by naively messing around with things.

I'm sorry you don't like HP laptops, but from our experiences, that is
the one brand I will recommend to people who ask because they've proven
to be solid as a rock, to travel well, and not to have problems.

Mine, my daughter's and my son's all have Intel processors (mine's a
dual-core Pentium, both of my kid's computers have i5 processors) and my
wife's has an AMD Phenom processor and all handle what we do with them
quite well. I'm the one who pushes it to the max most of the time,
using it for music notation as well as using soft-synths on it (which
are quite resource hungry) and it all works very very well.
