I have the google books app and a gen.1 Ipad 32 gigs. I just tried it out and you don't have to have the wifi on when reading a free book that you have downloaded. When I went into the book Alice in Wonderland that came with the app I was able to read it. I don't use the google books app a lot though.

When I have downloaded a book (free book written in 1898) from google books directly from my Ipad,(not thru I-tunes) should I be able to access this book when not in range of a wi-fi connection? I was under the assumption that once I downloaded it , it was stored in my Ipad and I didn't need the internet to read it.
