It is the system they have chosen. One is not better than the other, just depends on your (or the company's) needs. Probably they use proprietary software and have a developer on staff that develops BB apps and not iPhone apps. Or they started using BB before the iPhone came out and saw no reason to switch. BB has an Enterprise service specifically for businesses. I'm sure Apple has the same for iPhone, but the company has to make a choice. Each company has their own specific reasons.

I changed from BB Storm1 to iPhone 4 in Sept last year since feeding user name and password in secure sites was very cumbersome in BB.
My employer still insists on BB so now I use BB for office and iPhone for personal work.
