To further my earlier reply.
I saved the Microsoft Excel File (which was on my Apple) in PDF format
(still on the Apple) and used 'Dropbox' to send it to my iPAD and it
can through fine.

you mean microsoft excel files, right? apple makes numbers.app, not
excel. and yes, the conversion from excel to numbers can be a bit
dodgy. try to export it from excel in another format, then open in
numberrs.
