MotionX GPS Drive HD costs $3.
Unlike TomTom (which has not yet crated an iPad-specific version), it does NOT store all of the USA/Canada maps (for example) in the iPad (my TomTom App on my iPhone occupies about 1.4 GB of space). However, you can ask it to find a route ahead of time, and tell it to store the maps *for that route*.
MotionX GPS HD, also $3, is oriented more for the hiker or off-roader, as opposed to the driver who wants turn-by-turn highway instructions. It will also pre-load maps.
