We've learned a lesson about incomplete backing up.
The HD in my wife's MBP 13 went out just as she left for a trip to England.
The Apple store here is promising to try another trick or 2 while they wait for the replacement drive to come in (diagnostics show it still alive electrically but it will not make it thru disk repair, etc).
I did buy and try the latest Disk Warrior, which gave us the message that there was a hardware failure shortly into things. The Apple Store in London had tried that, also.
To make a long story short we need to recover primarily some email info from it that was not backed up. Any answers to these questions would be a big help and much appreciated:
1- Can an ISP recover email that has been received and deleted and/or sent out? We have a POP type account with Network Solutions as host for our domain & ISP. I know Gmail reportedly keeps stuff forever but that is IMAP so I did not know what the difference would be.
2- Can someone refresh my memory on the NYC drive recovery place someone on this list recommended (Glenn, maybe?), a private Apple store as I recall? Their offer of no recovery no fee is a lot better than DriveSavers, though I don't know if they are as good as DS reputedly is.
Any other suggestions will be gratefully received. We're anxious.
