Like you, I like the size of my Galaxy S3; however I would absolutely love a larger size iPhone!

I can live with the bland look but Im
finding the contrast and brightness difficult. Background too light,
hard to see white labels on the homescreen, if I correct the background, the icons are low lit. Other screens too much white background
I am using the stock bubble background, it is much lighter than iOS 6 so I will search for an alternative darker background,. hopefully that will help. Tried the contrast setting. Even in mesages the text washes out on the green, bit less so on the blue. The black on grey is clear

I read that changing your wallpaper can help find a better contrast.

I fully agree. If we had more control over foreground and background both in the homescreens and in apps such as Messages that would help a great deal.. I am looking for a darker background that should help reading the labels

Shouldn't have to have a jet black wallpaper when that isn't my preference. If one has the ability to change their background, seems reasonable to expect to have the ability to change the color of the font which is displayed on top of the wallpaper.
While I thank you for your workarounds... I guess that answers my question, there is no way to change the font color.

Sharon, Im with you, here are a few suggestions after a few minutes playing with it.
Getting a darker background should help, I am not sure if there are sites that carry backgrounds, I do know that the bubble background is lighter as compared to my wifes 4S this morning
Check the setting to change text size GENERAL - TEXT SIZE
Check the setting ACCESSIBILITY - BOLD TEXT and also LARGER TYPE (Also on that screen is Increase Contrast, I could not see a difference)
Playing with these should help optimise the font size and clarity which is a start.
Hopefully others may chime in as I have only spent a few minutes on it
Tony

Any reason they didn't put a Utilities app on the iPad? There isn't a calculator, so I have to find a separate app to get a calculator installed. Don't they realize I only have 10 fingers and 10 toes?

. . .and I think it was laughing at me while I was attempting to install it
on my Apple devices. I started with my iPad. I read the following:
approximately 24 hours to go," then "app. 26 hours..., then "app. 85 hours.
." (!) then 35 hours, 58 hours, 24 hours, 19, 13, 10, at which point I
started feeling a bit hopeful. All of this took place within two hours.
When it went back up to 56, I decided to just leave it on and go to bed.
Then I decided to also let my iPad Mini do the update overnight. When I
woke up I found a message on the Mini saying that the update would continue
when WiFi was restored. However, it showed that WiFi WAS working. I
clicked, and it immediately continued and finished the update about 20 min.
later. When I looked at the iPad, it had actually finished the update!
Both iPads are working fine, I rather like the new features, my iPod Touch
did the update without a hitch, and my iPhone is doing it now. So that was
my experience with the new iOS: 85 hours to install! LOL!!!
