I did the same thing and now I regret it too. Having to type in the code every time is silly, I should be able to turn that off and on, perhaps turning it on when I am using my iPad away from home.

The Passcode keypad pops up. I have the option of putting in code or cancel but cancel only takes me out of that, not canceling Passcode. How dumb of me set it up!!!
