Re: [iPad] Apple polishes forecast after selling 9 million new iPhones

Well put

On my NZ geek forum, that includes many non geeks, the issue of screen size raises its head when a new iPhone comes out or new leading brand Androids are released.

There are users who will stay with iPhone despite screen size, such as me
There are users that have stayed, but now left Apple due to screen size
There are users with Android who will go to Apple when screen size is there
There are users with Android that have moved to Windows Phone

Looking at iOS7 which narrows the feature gap with Android, the desire for larger screen iPhone next year, the ease at which hardcore Android users move to Windows Phone, all I see is a momentum for Apple next year if the larger screen arrives.

iOS7 and the known safety/stability/updateability is already there, the non iPhone users know that. Sales are up, how much is China/Japan and how much is real market share gain is unknown, but I see momentum now, solely due to iOS7

Just my opinions

You can't say it isn't *the* factor, because people who want the iOS
world and the Apple-verse have no choice regarding screen size so it
can't be a factor at all for those who want to stay with Apple.

What you *can* say is that the consumers have spoken that the operating
system is more important than the screen size for a lot of them. In
other words, people would rather have an iOS phone at a smaller screen
size than an Android phone at a larger screen size.

But that doesn't mean they wouldn't rather have a larger iPhone screen
size. Only after Apple brings out an iPhone with a larger screen size
so that Apple users can make a choice can we then draw any real
conclusions about how Apple consumers feel about screen size.

And Apple may be surprised that a lot of Android users really want the
iOS world but with a larger screen size and might jump from Androids
over to iPhones, given the choice of a larger screen size.
