in the pdf one can view, not mess with as a spreadsheet. try comma separated format or tab separated, comma is csv, see attached

you mean microsoft excel files, right? apple makes numbers.app, not 
excel. and yes, the conversion from excel to numbers can be a bit 
dodgy. try to export it from excel in another format, then open in 
numberrs.
