Well, if you just got it, you should first assume that you do not need to 'jailbreak' it.
Try it out, look for a piece of software that does what you want. There are hundreds of free tools, and thousands of programs to add, and the group can help find specific functions.
Jailbreaking it now, just because some hobbyist hackers talk about it a lot, seems as extreme as tearing out the engine and seats of a new car before driving it.
