RE: [iPad] Exporting photos from iPad to Computer

Hmmmm.  The below process does NOT work on MY Win 7 PC.

Ed

Is there any easy way to get my photos from my iPad? I have about 4500
photos I would like to export to my computer. Thanks! Janet G in Sun City,
TX
================================================

For Win7 --

Plug iPad into computer w/sync cable
No need to have iTunes even open.

Open an explorer window {windows-key + E}

After a little bit the iPad will appear as a portable device (digital
camera).
(alt method: open Control Panel/Devices & Printers)

Select the iPad, and drill down until you get to the folder with the images.

Have another explorer window open & a folder open & ready to receive your
images; select the images on the ipad & drag/drop to the folder.

This works for several dozen images, I haven't tried it with hundreds let
alone thousands. If you can do it in one go, it might take "a while".

For Win XP, IIRC, just plugging the iPad in will bring up the photo-import
wizard (which isn't *in* W7 apparently.)

I don't know which way Vista goes on this, but one or the other should work.

And it's quite small. My Apple TV sits on top of my ComCast cable box. I love it. It plays everything in my iTunes library plus Netflix movies and of course movies that I rent or buy from the Apple store. I must confess I don't rent though. I only did it once to see how it worked.

  Compared to USB1,  it IS wicked fast.  It’s all relative !     :^)      USB3 is the way to go, though,  if you can get it.

i thought USB2 was supposed to be wicked fast on windows and that this 10gb data transfer should be painless and fast? hrrrmmmppphhh.

~KM <---wishing the world hadn't gone with the uber slow usb2 because he liked the fast firewire transfer method

Re: [iPad] Exporting photos from iPad to Computer

PhotoSync works great for me, Janet.  I don't see why the amount of photos should make a difference, except in the length of time it takes to sync them all.  I have this app on my iPad, my iPhone, and my PC.

Hope this helps.

> Sorry, I wasn't very clear about my 4,500 photos that I wish to export from my iPad2 to a PC (unfortunately not a Mac).  These photos were taken on a camera and I put them on my iPad for storage while in Europe.  Now I can't figure out how to get them off the iPad2.  In iTunes they show up only in the upper tab.  Please bear with me, I'm a real novice but I LOVE my iPad2 and I need to figure out what other app I may need to perform this function.

I take it the camera cards that were the source of these images were erased and re-used.

I, too, am a Mac guy and can't help you with Windows, although it *should* be pretty straightforward.
