I posted the pictures of the ipad on my dash because it did not block the view of the road but it still had a strong negative reaction from fellow list members hence my thoughts about a similar reaction from a traffic cop. For me it is a moot point as I don't plan to use my iPad for traffic directions. I frequently drive around major cities solo but if one was not driving solo the larger screen of the iPad would be convenient.

In some states, anything on the dash that blocks ANY PART of the drivers view of the road is illegal.
