I see what you mean. I do prefer Apple approach, and hardware design, and ecosysetm, but I dont prefer their lightness on features, and how long they take to catch up. I dont mean the zany stupid Android features, or widgets etc just the ease of use ones.

Summary

Apple       Light on features including somevery nice ease of use features   but quality across the board

Android    Well put together feature set                                                     but the UI, security, updateability, apps, no thanks

In conclusion, what was that "best jailbreak app" URL again!

You're describing why I like apples approach and why you prefer other approaches better but I think you want your experience on apples hardware design. I get that envy. I do. I've been experiencing for years. Apple has great hardware and OS integration and is forward thinking some interesting ways. That appeals to people who want what apple doesn't cater to in its feature set. Teeheehee welcome to apple. They beat to their own drummer. Or used to and I think will continue to as jobs DNA is built into apple.

The look does. Hard to explain. OK, take an Android phone, remove widget and busy homescreen, you more or less end up with icons on grids. Make that look like iOS. I'd say that would look inviting and easy

iOS is just a clean set of rows of icons, what you see is what you get.. Android is the same but all dressed up in ugly colours, fonts and widgets, and that homescreen. Strip the widgets, make the colours, fonts and style of whats left to the iOS look, thats clean ansd not complicated, well my opinion anyway.

Ok. The feature set is simple but the UI is complicated? But this is better, how? This is where apple shines I think. The UI or device tends to stay simple and intuitive at the expense of a less impressive feature set. And. It seems they sell more by doing so. Less better than more crappily.

What I meant was the featureset (OK I shoulda mentioned its functions) isn't complicated, its the UI that is. Widgets, and the colours, style and fonts is what looks bad.. Take away widgets, replace the look with the iOS look and I reckon its looks nice, and intuitive

Underneath it all Android and iOS are the same style, grid based icons.. 95% of what they do is the same, either similar or sorta similar. Android though has its silly busy homescreens, and an old immature look, whereas iOS is the clan look. In short, Andoid dressed in the style of iOS would look clean and easy to use. iOS dressed in Androids style would look harder

I wouldn't refer to an overly complicated user interface a feature. In fact, personally, I would call a complicated user interface a distraction or a fault. A distraction or obstruction to the user and a fault of the programmer for not presenting things in the simplest and most user friendly and accessible means possible. 

IMO YMMV
