Using the charging cable plugged into that port, plug the USB end of the
charging cable into your computer and iTunes should start up
automatically. If it doesn't, start it yourself. Then from within
iTunes, you can click on the label or icon for your ipad and then click
on the Apps menu icon across the top of the screen. What opens up next
shows you what's on your iPad and what screens the icons are spread out
over. If you scroll down the main scroll bar, you'll get down to the
lower section where any apps which will allow you to load or save
documents will show in a list. Select the app you want and then you can
load or save documents from there.

If you're hoping to have your iPad show up as a device in Windows
Explorer and use it like an external hard drive, you're out of luck.
The file system within the iPad is invisible to the user, each document
showing up only within the specific app into which it was loaded.

I understand that if you jailbreak your iPad, there are some apps
available at sites other than the iTunes AppStore which will give you
greater access to the iPad's file system, but since I haven't jailbroken
my iPads, I can't speak directly from experience, only from what I
remember having read about in this group.
